We invite abstract submissions for presentations

at the Screening Conference 2027. 

The meeting will focus on policy, implementation and new technology developments relevant to Screening of existing

and proposed adult chronic diseases, and will feature expert international and national speakers.

The 2027 Screening Conference theme is: “Shaping the Future of Screening in Australia”

Submission

All abstracts are to be submitted electronically using the online Abstract Submission Portal.

Click on the 'Submit Abstract' button and follow the prompts.

Presentation

We encourage submitters to think about the story they are telling, and how they will ensure the presentation is dynamic and engaging. ​​

Presentation Types - To be confirmed

We are asking abstract submitters to express interest in your preferred presentation method. Please note that the Scientific Advisory Committee reserves the right to allocate a difference presentation type, if appropriate.

Long Oral Presentation: Presenters have a total of 10 minutes presentation time.

Rapid Fire Presentations: Presenters have a total of 6 minutes presentation time using up to 6 PowerPoint slides.

Conversation starters: Presenters have a total of 3 minutes presentation time using up to 4 PowerPoint slides.

Sub-Themes

We welcome Abstract submission relevant to one or more of the following sub-themes:

  • Emerging evidence – effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of new approaches to screening
  • Improving equity in screening
  • Enhancing reach/coverage in screening
  • Moving towards risk-based screening–progress and challenges
  • Early phase studies – new technologies
  • Multi-cancer and multi-disease detection approaches

Requirements

All abstracts must be in original work and submitted in English with a 300 word maximum. A maximum of two (2) abstracts may be submitted per presenting author.

If there is more than one presenter, all correspondence will be sent to the person whose name and email address is entered with the abstract. Please check your junk mail for correspondence.

Responsibility

It is the submitting author’s responsibility to ensure the correct version of the abstract is uploaded. Abstracts submitted should be checked for spelling and grammar as they will be published exactly as received.


Additional 300 Words

We encourage submissions on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ health.

Priority will be given to abstracts presented by an Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander person, followed by abstracts co-presented with an Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander person.

Up to an additional 300 words are permitted to outline Aboriginal Governance structures used to ensure that Indigenous data sovereignty principles were adhered to in the research or program development and that processes were culturally appropriate.

Workshops will be held face-to-face during the official conference days, in the allocated session time. Workshops may include interactive paper presentations, panel discussion, debate or interactive skills-based session. Workshops should seek to bring together the best available expertise on the topic under focus and should generally include contributors from a range of different institutions, disciplines or research groups. Workshops should have clear learning objectives and outline how the topic is aligned to the conference workshop themes.

 

Workshops are 90 minutes in duration and proposals should be submitted via the online Workshop EOI Submission portal below. 

 

All presenters, facilitators and invited speakers in the Workshops, regardless of the nature of their presentation, including organisers, must pay a face-to-face registration fee. All presenters must register at the time of confirming their acceptance of the workshop and pay the conference registration fee.​
